BiteWise is built for Covenant University students. This page explains what we collect, why, and how you stay in control of it.

What we collect

• Account details: name, email, and password (handled securely by Firebase Authentication, we never see or store your raw password).
• Budget and meal data: your daily budget, allergies, meal preferences, and logged meals, used to build your plans.
• Usage data: sign-in timestamps, feature usage, and app performance data, used to keep BiteWise reliable.
• Payment data: if you subscribe to Premium, payments are processed by Paystack. We never receive or store your card details.

How we use it

• To generate your daily meal plans and spend insights.
• To send you useful notifications, like your daily plan or budget updates.
• To improve BiteWise based on how students actually use it.
• To communicate product updates, and only send marketing email if you have not opted out.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
• We do not share your data with third parties beyond the services that run BiteWise (Firebase, Paystack).

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your data at any time from your account settings, or by emailing us. Deleting your account removes your personal data from our systems, aside from records we are legally required to keep, like payment history.

Data retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is removed within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email or in-app before they take effect.
